CLC 4-Year Old Preschool

The WI Department of Children and Families introduced a new program called "Get Kids Ready"! It is a new community-based elementary school readiness initiative to support licensed or certified child care providers serving four-year-old children.

What is school readiness?

In simple terms, school readiness means a child is ready to go to school. Get Kids Ready is a state-funded school readiness program that helps four-year-old children prepare for the transition from child care or home to a school setting. Teachers work at existing child care providers and focus on developing the academic, physical, social-emotional, self-help skills, and much more that kids will need to succeed in school.

The state pays child care providers for the time kids spend in Get Kids Ready, making that part of the day free for families.

Below are some frequently asked questions:

*How old does my child need to be?

Your child must be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the school year they plan to participate.

*How do I know which child care providers are participating?

We are happy to say that CLC has been approved to run the Get Kids Ready Program!!!

*How do I sign my child up?

Families that want their child to take part in Get Kids Ready will need to submit an application to the participating child care provider.

*Does it cost money?

No! Parents cannot be charged for the hours in which their child is in Get Kids Ready school readiness programming. If your family requires wrap-around (before/after) care, that is not covered under the Get Kids Ready program, that would be an additional expense.

We offer wrap around care for children attending 4K in the surrounding schools. Please contact Johnson Bus at 262-284-5330 for transportation needs from Lincoln and Saukville Elementary as well as the parochial schools in our area. The children from Dunwiddie Elementary school will be walked to and from school with a CLC teacher.

*Wrap around care is available Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 6:00 pm, open year-round

*On-site cook who prepares warm meals and snacks daily
